Victory Square

Victory Square is a symbolic place for Kaluga’s citizen and an indispensable point of all excursions. Today there is a memorial complex, built as a tribute to the fallen in the battles for Kaluga in the Great Patriotic War. There is a 30 meter-high obelisk topped by a 8 meter-high statue of the Motherland.

The Square is surrounded by shady paths and flower beds. Even the summer heat is endured easily because of the invigorating coolness of the fountain. In addition to the memorial, there is an independent value of Victory Square – the old church of Cosma and Damian, a sample of architecture of the XVIII century.
